My research interest concerns the contribution of multi-trophic species interactions in shaping and maintaining biodiversity. Facing tremendous and accelerating climatic changes, I am especially keen to find out about how current gradients in abiotic conditions are reflected in community composition, and how such patterns can be used to predict ecosystem responses to future climatic conditions. More precisely, I am curious about the impact of abiotic and biotic environmental variation on insect morphology and behavior, including not only evolutionary but also plastic responses. During my bachelor's research I investigated predator-mediated variation in defensive traits of dragonfly larvae. In my master's project I measured variation in insect herbivore damage to saplings in relation to tree species' local abundances across a tropical rainfall gradient. Further, I investigated changes in predation pressure on artificial caterpillars across that gradient.
