Gas exchange and water use efficiency of the understory shrub community in the montado

As part of the final deliverable for the MSc in Global Change Ecology, Shazneen is working on her Masters thesis supervised by Dr. Dennis Otieno on questions related to facilitation of water availability for the shrubs during summer drought in the Portuguese montado. Of particular interest is the interaction between Quercus suber overstory and Cistus crispus in the understory.

Previously Shazneen worked in India in the civil society sector on a theme related to climate change adaptation and natural resources management with a focus on policy and action research.

Shazneen has an MSc. in Environmental Conservation from the University of Greenwich (United Kingdom) and a BSc. in Botany, Chemistry and Zoology from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (India).
